UKHRUL: The District Headquarters Baptist Churches Fellowship (DHBCF), Chandel, on Saturday organised a special prayer programme at the District H/Q Baptist Church, Japhou Bazar, seeking peace, justice, healing, and the restoration of normalcy in Manipur. The gathering was also held in remembrance of the six Naga men recently killed near Konsakhul.
According to a statement issued by DHBCF, more than 200 believers, including pastors, deacons, church leaders, elders, women, youth, and members of various Baptist churches under the Chandel headquarters area, attended the programme. Organisers described the gathering as a display of unity, with people from different tribal communities coming together in prayer beyond communal and ethnic divisions.

The programme was moderated by Alembert Langhu, Pastor of District H/Q Baptist Church, who underscored the importance of collective prayer during times of crisis and uncertainty. The opening prayer was led by Sk Bungwar, Treasurer of DHBCF.
During the service, Rev. Sng. Nelson, Pastor of Lambung Baptist Church, and Rev. J. Simon, Pastor of Mantri Pantha Baptist Church, delivered messages centred on peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness. The two pastors condemned the violence that has claimed innocent lives and caused suffering to many families, while urging people to reject hatred and division and uphold the values of love, compassion, understanding, and mutual respect.
Addressing the congregation, Rev. K. Kumar Monsang, Chairman of DHBCF, highlighted the role of the Church in fostering harmony during difficult times. He appealed to the Central and State governments, security forces, law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and civil society organisations to work collectively towards restoring peace and stability in the state.

The programme concluded with a closing prayer by Lh Salemni, Secretary of DHBCF. Participants dispersed with a renewed commitment to peace and communal harmony, followed by refreshments hosted by the church.
