SENAPATI: As Senapati gears up to welcome the monsoon, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Senapati, convened a series of critical preparedness meetings chaired by Mamoni Doley, Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the DDMA, on April 9 and 13.

The sessions, held at the DC Conference Hall, emphasized the urgent need for proactive measures to mitigate monsoon-related risks. The Chairperson instructed officials from NHIDCL, PMGSY, and PWD to clear all drainage blockages along the National Highway (NH) and repair potholes immediately to ensure smooth transit. Officials from Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL) were also directed to clear debris from roadsides where pipelines have been laid, with the aim of reducing traffic congestion and preventing accidents.

Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) along the National Highway were directed to conduct inspections, identify encroachments on the Right of Way (RoW), and issue eviction notices to trespassers. The SDO Senapati was also tasked with inspecting the Senapati River and initiating eviction measures where necessary to prevent flooding and blockages.

Placing all departments on high alert, the Chairperson directed the Police, CEO, ADC, Medical, and CAF to remain prepared for emergency response and unforeseen situations. Following an incident at Lairouching, a follow-up meeting was expedited on Monday. Attended by SDOs, NHIDCL, IGGL, and the Police Department, the meeting resulted in stricter directives, including the immediate removal of roadside debris and the construction of temporary drainage systems to ensure road and public safety.

The DDMA Chairperson concluded by appealing to the public to cooperate with the district administration. Citizens were urged to refrain from encroaching on the Right of Way with construction materials and to avoid unauthorized activities along riverbanks to ensure the safety of the entire community.
