UKHRUL: The Eastern Kuki Chiefs’ Association (EKCA) has strongly condemned an armed attack on Kultuh village in Manipur’s Kamjong District that reportedly left two civilians dead, two others injured, and several structures, including a church, destroyed by fire. Two other civilians were reportedly injured in the incident and are currently undergoing medical treatment.

EKCA alleged that the attack was carried out at around 4 AM by cadres of the NSCN (Eastern Flank) and the Shanni National Army (SNA). The claims could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.

As per the EKCA, seven houses, including the village church, were set ablaze during the attack, causing extensive damage to private property and community infrastructure.

The EKCA identified the deceased as Letminlun Haokip, Head Deacon of Kultuh Church, and Lunminthang Haokip, Youth Chairman of Kultuh Church. Both were described as respected community leaders actively involved in church and social service.

Condemning the attack, the EKCA described it as a grave violation of human rights and an assault on the peace, dignity, and security of innocent villagers.

“The deliberate targeting of civilians and the destruction of a church are unacceptable acts that deserve the strongest condemnation from all peace-loving people,” the statement said.

While EKCA extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured, it also called upon the authorities and security agencies to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and take necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of vulnerable villages in the region. “Violence against civilians can never be justified and must be unequivocally condemned,” the statement added.
