Ukhrul: The Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTKL) stated today that the home of one Chinaohei Ngalung in Ringui village, Ukhrul district, Manipur, was razed by an inferno on the evening of January 21.

The student body suspects that it was due to a short circuit.

According to the student body, the fire destroyed two buildings, including an under-construction building that was 95% complete. “Thanks to the villagers’ quick intervention, the fire was contained before it could spread to other houses,” added ZTKL. The fire incident resulted in property damages exceeding an amount of Rs. 40 lakhs, the student body also said.

“We are touched by the fact that the victim, Ch Ngalung, was a dedicated retired teacher who had invested all his savings and pension funds to build the said home, but everything was destroyed by fire on the fateful evening of January 21,” the student body also added.
