Four Killed, Six Injured in Tragic Road Accident at Poi Village in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Mar 8: A road mishap at Poi Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur claims four lives and injured 6 people. The unfortunate incident occurred at around 12:30 PM on Saturday.

President of Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL), Paomi Khaveishang informed that the four deceased has been identified as Martha Alungnao (Chairperson of Poi Baptist Church Women Society), Yureichon Nirai (Secretary of Poi Baptist Church Women Society), Mazanthei Maluksho (Poi Baptist Church Pianist and Driver) and Peacenao Raising (Poi Baptist Church choir member).

The six injured persons are Shangreihao Shatsang,  Shonreishon Maluk, Ngachanwon Ronra, Chihangam Bukli, Kashangmi Shimrah and Ngayailei Shatsang.

The President of RKL has called the road mishap as gross negligence and failure on the part of the concerned authority in maintaining the road. “This incident is a painful reminder of the unacceptable risks posed by inadequate road conditions.

The Raphei Katamnao Long  sternly calls upon the concerned departments to take immediate and decisive action to address these glaring issues. Delays or inaction will no longer be tolerated, as the lives of our people cannot be put into jeopardized. We demand an urgent assessment and repair of road infrastructure to meet safety standards” stated Paomi Khaveishang, President of RKL.

It is also learnt that the team were traveling in a bolero camper to see-off one mission workers from Poi village who have been appointed recently as the mission secretary of NTNBA with its headquarters at Longpi, Ukhrul District, Manipur.
