The NH-2 was blocked for hours on Thursday while trying to pull up the goods-laden blue truck between 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

While three mini cranes tried to pull up the goods-laden truck from a slope it had run into, the highway was completely blocked off for around 3 hours which resulted in stagnation of hundreds of vehicles on both sides on Thursday.

The drivers of both the vehicles escaped without injury.

Frequent highway accidents, especially of heavy duty trucks on the Dimapur-Imphal NH-2 is becoming a cause of concern for the locals as well as travelers.

Some travelers have blamed the faulty alignments of roads, while some have blamed the pressure on truck drivers due to limited time permitted to ply across certain places while transitioning from Nagaland state. However, some suggest, the government should pay attention to the number of increasing road accidents. Drivers who frequent the highway say vehicles are prone to accidents during rainy season.
