UKHRUL: The Global Naga Forum (GNF) on Tuesday appealed for the immediate release of the remaining Naga hostages, expressing concern over the absence of any information regarding their condition or whereabouts amid the ongoing tensions between the Kuki and Naga communities in Manipur.
In a statement, the GNF acknowledged the recent release of 14 hostages from both sides but said anxiety continues to grow over those who are still unaccounted for.

“While it is noted that both sides have taken a positive step by releasing fourteen hostages each, the continued detention of the remaining individuals raises serious humanitarian and moral questions,” the GNF stated.
The Naga advocacy forum said there was “grave anxiety” within the Naga community over the fate of the remaining male hostages, adding that the lack of credible information has deepened uncertainty among family members and the public.
The GNF also questioned the lack of progress despite the presence of both state and central authorities, saying there has been no clear information regarding the whereabouts or safety of the hostages.
Appealing to the Kuki Inpi Manipur and the concerned militant groups, the forum urged that the remaining hostages be released without delay. It further requested that, at the very least, their condition be communicated to the families.
“At the very least, their condition, whether alive or deceased, should be communicated through any available channel so as to bring clarity and some measure of solace to their families,” the GNF statement said.

It also appealed to both communities to exercise restraint and uphold “compassion, truth, and the sanctity of human life” in the spirit of mutual respect and shared Christian faith.
“The GNF hopes for immediate and positive action from all concerned, so that the situation does not deteriorate further and avenues for peace and reconciliation remain open,” it added.
