Green Land Institute of Nursing Commences Its 2nd Edition of College Week, Senapati

SENAPATI: The Green Land Institute of Nursing, Senapati kick started the second edition of its College Week at Katomei ground on a high note under the theme, “Heart of a nurse, spirit of a champion.”

The inaugural ceremony was graced by N. Benjamin Tao, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati branch as the chief guest, Dr. Allen Chiru, MD, PMR and chairman of the institute as the guest of honour and Dr. D. Mercy, Director of the institute as functional President respectively.

The Vice Principal of the nursing institute extended her gratitue to the dignitaries for their presence in her welcome address. To the students, the Vice Principal urged all to remember that sports is not only about the outcome or achievement, but is about participation.

Guest of honour, Chiru lauded the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Senapati branch for their dedication, commitment and contributions. The guest who is also the Chairman of the institute hopes and prays that the IRCS, Senapati will continue to help humanity even in the future. Drawing the attention of the students, the guest urged all to see sports not only as a game but as a power to unite people. Despite coming from different communities and regions, the guest added that sports bring’s out the best in one, it teaches discipline, teamwork and resilience.

While appreciating the nurses, the Chief Guest stated that they render invaluable services from childbirth to the final moments of life. At times when many hesitate even to offer basic care, nurses continue to serve humanity with dedication and compassion. He noted that nurses are in high demand worldwide and added that Red Cross volunteers, despite having only basic training, have been actively contributing to humanitarian efforts in the spirit of service. The Chairman of the IRCS Senapati branch also invited individuals willing to serve humanity to join the organisation.

The Red Cross does not offer salaries or monetary rewards, apart from certificates of appreciation presented on occasions such as Republic Day and Independence Day. Despite this, its volunteers have consistently served selflessly, especially during natural calamities and the COVID-19 pandemic, working day and night and often risking their lives to provide maximum assistance to people across the district.

The institute presented a memento to the chief guest in recognition of his remarkable services during the programme.

Meanwhile, excitement is building as College Week 2.0 gets underway. Building on the enthusiasm of the previous year, this edition promises greater energy, talent, and team spirit. A range of outdoor events, including running races, javelin throw, shot put, football, and volleyball, will be held, with the festivities set to conclude on March 26.
