UKHRUL: Filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar will attend the Indigenous Cinema: South Asian Perspectives, a three-day gathering of filmmakers, scholars and artistes exploring Indigenous cinemas across South Asia with a focus on identity, land, memory and resistance to be held from December 8-10 at New York University in Abu Dhabi. 

He left Imphal for the event on Saturday.

To be organised by the Rights and Representation Research Forum in collaboration with the Film and New Media Programme, New York University, Abu Dhabi and the Indigenous Film and Media Alliance, South Asia, the event will feature short, documentary, and fiction films alongside conversations on the politics of representation and the shifting terrain of indigenous media.

The legendary filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar, the only Swarna Kamal awardee filmmaker of Manipur who was honoured with the Legend of Indian Cinema in the 50th International Film Festival of India 2019 by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India will speak on his journey of cinema.
