CHANDEL: Chandel district witnessed two major humanitarian initiatives on Saturday as a Free Mega Health Camp and the fourth edition of a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp were successfully organised, bringing specialist healthcare services and promoting the spirit of voluntary blood donation among the people.

A One-Day Free Mega Health Camp was organised at the Town Hall, Panchai, by Jivan Hospital, Kakching, in association with YN College of Nursing & Paramedical College and in collaboration with the Lambung Youth and Cultural Club (LYCC).

The outreach programme brought a team of 40 medical professionals, including specialist doctors, professors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff from various departments of Jivan Hospital to Chandel. The initiative aimed to provide quality healthcare services to the people of the district while strengthening community outreach.

A total of 173 beneficiaries availed themselves of the services offered during the camp. Specialist consultations were provided in Endocrinology, Hepatology and Gastroenterology, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Dentistry, General Medicine, Physiotherapy, and Dietetics. Free Random Blood Sugar (RBS) and Uric Acid tests were also conducted, while essential medicines were distributed free of cost to patients as required.

The Lambung Youth and Cultural Club (LYCC), led by its president, S.T. Heberson, coordinated the programme and ensured the smooth conduct of the camp. Speaking on the occasion, Heberson expressed gratitude to Jivan Hospital for bringing specialist healthcare services to Chandel and said the initiative enabled residents to access quality medical consultation and treatment closer to home.
