UKHRUL: A group of IAS officer trainees from the 2025 batch visited Imphal Airport on Friday as part of an exposure programme aimed at providing firsthand insight into airport operations and aviation management.

The trainees arrived from Guwahati and were received by officials and staff of Imphal Airport. The visit began with a briefing session at the airport’s conference hall, where Airport Director Chipemmi Keishing briefed the officers on key aspects of airport management.

During the interaction, Keishing highlighted various operational components, including passenger handling systems, security procedures, air traffic control, emergency preparedness, and the challenges involved in managing airport infrastructure.

Speaking to media persons, the Airport Director said that 10 IAS officer trainees from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, had arrived in Imphal for a field study. As part of the programme, the officers will visit different operational areas of the airport, including the terminal and airside zones, to gain practical exposure to aviation operations.

The trainees were also taken on a guided tour of the airport, during which they observed critical functions such as security protocols, air traffic control operations, and airport fire services. The hands-on exposure is expected to help the young officers better understand the complexities involved in managing public infrastructure and essential services.

IAS officer trainee Meghna Chakravorty said the visit was part of an exposure trip designed to help officers understand airport infrastructure and operations from an administrative perspective.

“We got to experience how the airport functions from the other side, which has increased our understanding. This is exactly what the academy expected from our visit,” she said.

Chakravorty also expressed gratitude to the officials and staff of Imphal Airport for their warm hospitality and for facilitating a meaningful and informative visit.
