Indian Army Rescues Civilian Near Khumnangjang, Leimakhong

Khumnangjang, 22 Mar: In a prompt and effective operation, the Indian Army successfully rescued a Meitei civilian who had accidentally entered the ‘Security Zone’ near Khumnangjang, Leimakhong, Kangpokpi District while coming from Khurkul side today.

At approximately 1147 hours, Army personnel deployed in the area noticed an individual approaching the security zone from the Khurkul side. Considering the sensitivity of the region and its proximity to a Kuki village, a Quick Reaction Team (QRT) was swiftly dispatched to ensure his safety.

The team acted swiftly, securing the individual and relocating him to a safe area. He was later identified as a resident of Ward 4, Khurkul village.

Following standard procedures, the rescued individual was safely handed over to the police at the Sekmai Police Station outpost.

The Indian Army’s action averted a major communal clash and strife in the sensitive region which would have deteriorated if the individual had not been rescued timely.

The Indian Army remains committed to upholding peace and security in the region, ensuring the well-being of all civilians.
