Ukhrul: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed over the disappearance of Laishram Kamalbabu, who went missing from the Army Headquarters campus Leimakhong on Monday has urged Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to expedite efforts to locate the missing individual. Sekmai MLA Heikham Dingo, accompanied by JAC representatives, met with the Chief Minister on Thursday,  submitting a memorandum addressed to the Union Defence Minister and other relevant authorities.

Laishram Kamalbabu (56), a supervisor at MS Binod Constructions working inside the 57 Mountain Division campus in Leimakhong, has been reported missing since November 25. Originally from Gosaipur, Cachar district, Assam, Kamalbabu resides in Loitang Khunou, Imphal West District.

Meanwhile, residents of the Kanto Sabal area intensified their agitation, blocking roads to prevent personnel of the 57 Mountain Division based in Leimakhong from passing until Kamalbabu is located. A public meeting on the issue is scheduled soon, with Minister Heikham Dingo expected to attend.

In a significant development, the High Court of Manipur has directed the State Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, DGP, 57 Mountain Division GOC, Home Commissioner, SP Imphal West, and the OC of Sekmai Police Station to submit a status report on the missing case by November 29.
