Senapati, October 4: The Makhan Wanjeng area Chief and Chairman Phom (Association) has strongly condemned the abduction and torture of Mr. Kamginlal Chongloi, a resident of Phaikot village, by unidentified armed miscreants on the evening of October 2, 2025.
According to the statement issued by the Makhan Wanjeng Chief/Chairman Phom, the incident occurred between Makhan and Khenjang areas. The victim was later rescued by security forces and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Terming the incident “very unfortunate,” the statement expressed concern that such acts could reignite tensions between communities at a time when peace and normalcy are beginning to return to the region.
The Makhan area, inhabited predominantly by the Liangmai Naga community, reiterated its position of neutrality throughout the ongoing conflict in Manipur. The statement highlighted that the community had extended help to both Meitei and Kuki groups during the height of the unrest.
“This incident is an attempt to malign and tarnish our image, and we will not tolerate such actions,” the statement declared, warning that anyone entering the area with “evil motive or bad intention” would not be welcomed.

The Chief/Chairman Phom further appealed for calm and reaffirmed the community’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
