Imphal: The Congress party in Manipur today accused the BJP of making issue out of non-issue, while reacting to Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh’s demand for a clarification from the high command of the Congress party in New Delhi on the recent alleged security breach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab.

On Wednesday, the chief minister demanded the high command of the Congress party to clarify on the security breach in Punjab at the earliest as that state is being run by the grand old party.

Addressing a press conference at Imphal Congress Bhavan in Imphal today, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president, Khumanthem Debabarta alleged that the BJP is trying to make the recent Punjab incident an issue to gain political mileage. “The BJP is doing so as the party knows that they are going to lose the elections this time”, the Congress leader further said.

He then asked as to why Prime Minister Narendra Modi feared visiting a state of the country when he was not afraid of going to Pakistan to attend a birthday function of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “It is doubtful that Modi intentionally returned without attending the party rally in Punjab so as to blame the Congress as BJP is now afraid of losing the election since people have now preferred the Congress returning to power across the country”, he said.
