Imphal: The Manipur police on Tuesday reported that security forces successfully repelled an attack by militants at the Borobekra Police Station and the adjacent Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) post in Jakuradhor, under Jiribam district. The police station also serves as a camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP).

Speaking to the media, Dr. I.K. Muivah, Inspector General of Police (Operations), stated that the militants, dressed in military-style attire, were clearly intent on inciting violence. However, due to the prompt action of the CRPF, the scale of violence and casualties was controlled.

According to IGP I.K. Muivah, on November 11, 2024, between 2:30 and 3:00 PM, militants launched a coordinated assault on the police station and CRPF post, using heavy weaponry, including RPGs and automatic firearms. The attack caused significant damage to nearby houses, with several set ablaze.

He further explained that Civil Police and CRPF personnel responded swiftly, engaging in an intense exchange of fire with the militants for around 40–45 minutes, eventually securing the area. During subsequent search operations, security forces recovered the bodies of 10 militants, along with various caches of weapons and ammunition, including three AK rifles, four SLRs, two INSAS rifles, one RPG, one pump-action gun, bulletproof helmets, and magazines.
