MP Dr. Lorho Pfoze graces Golden Jubilee of Kangpokpi Youth Union

Senapati, March 7: Marking its 50th glorious years of existence, the Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Brig. Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi. The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, MP, (Outer) as the chief guest while Nemcha Kipgen, minister, Commerce & Industries, Textile and Cooperation, government of Manipur as the functional president respectively.

On the occasion, the chief guest hoisted the flag and founding president, KYU, Haokholal Hangshing unveiled the jubilee monolith. The next item followed with condolence prayer led by gen. secretary, KYU, Rev. J. Lunkim. Program committee also honoured the foregone leaders of the union and who are still alive with gifts. The committee also acknowledged all the firsts of Kangpokpi who got through in competitive exams, who got first appointments in Govt services and all renowned sportspersons from Kangpokpi including both genders.

Brieinf history of the KYC/KYU, presdient, KYU stated that 50 years ago, leaders from the region came together to put forth their love and dedication for Kangpokpi and under their profound leadership came the service to its people. The Kangpokpi Youth Club (KYC) came into being with the dedicated and selfless youth over the decades shouldered the needs of the people of the town lending their hands in every way possible. KYC was registered under Registrar of Societies, Manipur bearing Registration No. 1324 of 1973. Under the strong leadership of Haokholal Hangshing, the founding President of KYC, the club has seen much generation of people across many walks of life come together in every possible way to contribute to the society. This truly was a way in providing “Service before self” and that has showered with blessings from above to give a glorious day like today.

Speaking on the occasion, Nemcha Kipgen, minister, Commerce & Industries, Textile and Cooperation lauded the KYU for taking much responsibility in dealing with the global pandemic by availing services 24X7. Mentioning about importance of youth, the minister stated that future of a nation lies in its youth which she asserted “Youth are the pillar of the nation.” It is in the hands of the youth to bring change in the region and state with their different contributions.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, MP stated that Kangpokpi has been blessed. The distirct has grown up in different ways commercially and has different renowned institutions. The place is also known for different church activities, in the field of sports and other social activities. While asking all to bear much fruits while young, the MP urged all to plan for a better future. While celebrating the glorious past, it is the responsibility of everyone to live a righteous life by avoiding what is not proper in one’s life with envisioning a promising future than what one experienced in the past and at present. Urging the youth to seek the Lord and make foundation, the MP stated that unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain and unless the Lord guards the city, the guard watches in vain. Having learned from past mistakes, the MP encouraged the youth to bring better unity, better connectivity, to encourage and honour one another for better world to live in. To be blessed with a state minister, the MP urged the youth to grab the opportunity through the minister and build up the youth of the region for better future so as not to place the youth jobless after education.

“A youth cannot expect a bright future if one does not think and act at present by living this day a good life”, Dr. Lorho said. He further encouraged the youths to build up one’s family, one’s ward, one’s district and state as a whole for better future.

While the state government is actively responding support to “War on drugs,” it is for the good of all thinking for the brighter future of the coming generation and the responsibility of everyone to support it, he added. In order to expect good harvest, the MP encouraged everyone to give more efforts as no one can expect a good one without any effort.

Different cultural shows marked the occasion. 1st round of “Mr. & Miss Kangui” was showcased in the later part of the program. Final round and declaration of “Mr and Miss” would follow in the evening session.

Briefing media persons, Seikhojang Kipgen, chairman, Golden Jubilee Committee stated that the Kangpokpi Youth Union was formed well before 1973 but taking as base year to have registered in the Society of Registration, its golden jubilee is celebrated with a committee of the celebration with different sub-committees.
