UKHRUL: The Eastern Command of the Naga Village Guard (NVG) has denied any involvement of the Tangkhul community in the reported attack at Molnoi, a Kuki village in Myanmar, on May 12.
In a press statement dated May 12, the NVG stated that it outrightly denies the allegation levelled against the Tangkhul Naga community over the reported attack on Molnoi, a Kuki village inside Myanmar’s territory at around 3.30 pm on the 12th of May 2026, which is being circulated on social media by certain Kuki individuals.

“The Tangkhul Naga community declares that we have no hand in the incident that occurred today in Myanmar, which has been embroiled in internal unrest for the past few years. We are committed to protecting and defending our own land and people, and have never meddled with the affairs in our neighbouring country, Myanmar,” it stated. Also, it added, “The incident that occurred on Tuesday at Molnoi, which is located in Myanmar, approximately 2 km from the Border Pillar No.113 in Kamjong District, could be their own handiwork and an attempt to blame the Tangkhul Naga community to plot another alibi to attack the innocent Naga border villagers.”

The NVG also alleged that Molnoi is reported to be the hub of Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), a constituent of Peoples` Defence Force (PDF), which has been waging war against the military Junta in the country. “As said, the attack on Kuki village Molnoi could have been a repercussion of the internal unrest that is currently prevailing in Myanmar,” it alleges.
“The Naga Village Guard, Eastern Command, therefore rejects the unfounded allegation and condemns the attempt to malign the image of the Tangkhul Naga community,” the press statement read.
