Nagaland Disaster Management Authority Warns of Heavy Rainfall and Flash Flood

Kohima, July 1: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) said today that Nagaland will experience rainfall in all the districts starting from July 1 till July 8, 2025.

These showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in all the districts, the NSDMA said. Heavy rain is also predicted for the majority of the districts starting from July 2 till July 6, 2025. Kiphire and Tuensang are likely to receive very heavy rainfall on July 2 and July 3, 2025. As a result, it is vital to take necessary measures in this period, including avoiding lightning strikes and high winds.

Further, road transport communication and connectivity is likely to also be affected in the coming days, the NSDMA said. Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland’s lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli is vulnerable to inundation and water logging and flash floods.

In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. The NSDMA, Home Department also requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
