Shillong, August 28: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) today launched a series of cascading Karmayogi workshops at its Shillong campus to strengthen a citizen-centric work culture and improve service delivery. The programme brings together teaching and non-teaching staff in structured, day-long sessions led by NEHU’s certified Master Trainers, with additional batches scheduled at Tura.

Chairing the inaugural, Prof. S. Umdor, Pro Vice-Chancellor, stressed the importance of being a Karmayogi, working with seva-bhav, accountability, and a citizen-first orientation. Prof. S. Dixit, Registrar (I/C), highlighted the relevance of the workshop in aligning University processes and culture with national capacity-building goals. Prof. D. K. Biswal, Coordinator, thanked Schools and Sections for enabling broad participation and smooth conduct across batches.

Master Trainers from the Shillong campus include Dr. Rajesh Bajpai (Environmental Studies), Dr. Vinit Kumar Chaubey (Mathematics), and Mr. K. H. Lanong (Assistant Registrar, Finance), who are imparting the day-long cascading training sessions.

The initiative is in line with the Government of India’s Department of Personnel & Training mandate, which requires annual course completion and comprehensive assessment on the iGOT Karmayogi portal. The outcomes will be reflected in APAR from the 2025–26 reporting cycle. Today’s workshops are aimed at supporting NEHU personnel in meeting these requirements.
