In a statement issued on Tuesday, the NSCN/GPRN said the promotion of Maj. Gen. Honreishang Shadang, MSM, MC, to the rank of Lieutenant General and his designation as successor to General Anthony Ningkhan as Longvibu (Commander-in-Chief) was a collective decision of the NSCN leadership.

“The appointment was made strictly in line with the Naga Army Rules and Regulations. No unilateral decision was taken, and there is no question of any power struggle within the organization,” the statement clarified.
