UKHRUL: The NSCN/GPRN (NSCN-IM) has condemned the IED blast near Khopanala, Shukhovi, that killed an Indian Army soldier and injured four others on July 13, calling the incident a “cowardly terrorist act” aimed at disrupting peace in the region.
The group said the use of improvised explosive devices and anti-personnel mines cannot be justified, warning that such attacks put civilian lives at risk and create fear among the public. It said violence of this nature only undermines the peace that people have worked to preserve.
The NSCN/GPRN in a statement issued on Tuesday also pointed out that it is a signatory to the Geneva Call Deed of Commitment banning anti-personnel mines and said it continues to reject the use of such weapons. It further maintained that it remains bound by the Indo-Naga ceasefire agreement and would continue to observe the ceasefire ground rules.

While distancing itself from the attack, the NSCN/GPRN said it would seek to establish the facts behind the explosion and identify those responsible. It urged the public not to speculate on the incident and appealed for cooperation so that those behind the blast could be held accountable.
