CHANDEL, AUG 27: The NSS Unit of the United College, Lambung in Chandel on Thursday observed the National Sports Day at its Seminar Hall to mark the birth anniversary of legendary hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand.
The Yuva Samvaad, Khelo India Dialogue, Khel Ki Baat PM Modi Ke Sath was attended by over 100 students including NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, teaching and non teaching staff of the college. In it, they joint over eight lakh students across the country via online in listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on Yuva Samvaad.

The discussion and interaction session between Youth Icon and Local Sportsperson featured Thumli Joyshing Monsang, Elite National Referee, All India Football Federation and Sh. Marconi Monsang, Football Mentor, Khelo India, Chandel Centre.
During the interaction session, Th. Joyshing and Sh. Marconi spoke on the importance and relevance of sports in our daily lives. They enlightened the students and all those present on how sports can shape one’s life, physically and mentally.
They also spoke on the growth of sports in India and it’s preparation for hosting Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
The two social guests also responded to various questions raised by the students on sports in India and in Chandel district.
Later, five students from the college shared their ideas on the five Yuva Samvaad themes i.e. Improving the Sports Ecosystem in the Country, Nurturing Talent for the 2036 Olympics, Creating Youth Leaders and Youth Participation in Governance, Empowering Youth for Viksit Bharat and Nasha Mukti Yuva for Viksit Bharat.
The gathering also took a pledge on Viksit Bharat Nasha Mukti, a pledge to make India drug-free.
The Programme ended with a rendition of the National Anthem.
