Senapati: The Poumai Naga community which is one of the biggest tribe of Senapati district welcomed and felicitated N Biren Singh on his second term as Manipur chief minister at Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex, Khabung Karong, Senapati. The program was organised by the Poumai Naga Union, the apex body of the Poumai Naga community. The chief minister was accompanied by minister Th Basanta Singh, minister H Dingo Singh, MLA K Robindro and MLA J Kumo Sha.
In his welcome note, D Dailord Pao, president, Poumai Naga Union stated that they don’t have much to give but have their prayers to ask of god while assuring to continue to support him and his government and would continue to pray for him.
J Kumo Sha, MLA, 47-Karong (ST) AC in his speech called as fortunate to work under the able leadership of N Biren Singh as the state chief minister. Although Poumai Naga constitute as the biggest community in the district, the MLA regretted that Poumai lags behind many aspects in terms of development and is hopeful to lift up and promote the region under the leadership of the chief minister. The MLA also expressed gratitude for all the love and support extended to have elected him from the region. J Kumo Sha also sought the cooperation of all to forgive and forget for any mistake he might have committed during the last election as he asked all to join hands together in the endeavour to bring peace and progress in the land.

Leaders from the Poumai Naga community comprising of the church leaders, CSO leaders, village chiefs, chairmen/secretaries and other political leaders of the tribe joined together and offered prayers for the state chief minister and his Govt to prosper.
Speaking as the chief guest, N Biren Singh stated that his political philosophy is based on humanity to serve the poor and needy, to lift up the weak in the service of humanity and bring development in the region. Big changes could be brought in the state through cooperation of all and the general public. Central leaders also stated to laud the change that could be seen in the state with no more bloodshed, no bandh and blockade that had brought congenial relationship between the hills and valley under his leadership, he said.
The chief minister also stated to have apprised the central leaders where the state needs acute shortage of development especially in the hills of the state. Distance in the hills is very far away from village to village where he had proposed for topographical need based budget in the state to the central leaders.
Out of the 82 districts selected all over India, Tamenglong district is stated to be one for development under HADP in the first phase. While mentioning for inclusive development in the state, chief minister N Biren Singh emphasised on the need to develop the hills under his Govt when it introduces “Go to Hills and Go to Village” to assure its commitment. The chief minister also highlighted various developmental schemes and programs implemented in the state under his Govt.
The program was attended by a large crowd in terms of thousands from Poumai Naga villages. Cultural dance from Phuba Khuman Youth & Students Organisation was showcased, folk tune from Moms’ in Touch and collection of young artists from the community presented the song “We are the world” during the program.
