Senapati Police along with AR arrests 3 with suspected brown sugar

Senapati: Senapati District Police under the supervision of Shivanand Surve, IPS, SO, Senapati along with 16 Assam Rifles, Maram caught 13 soap cases suspected to be brown sugar on Monday.

The consignments were caught during a joint frisking and checking in connection with the prevailing law and order situation at Senapati Police check post led by RL. Victor, OC, Senapati Police station.

At around 5 am on Monday, a swift Maruti car was stopped at the check post by the Police. However, the car sped away without paying heed. The police team chased after the car and intercepted at Khongnem, bringing back car to the check post. On interrogation, the driver of the car bearing registration No. AS01ES- 0823 revealed that 13 soap cases suspected to be brown sugar was concealed under the dashboard of the car. The consignments were seized in the presence of Executive Magistrate and the 3 occupants were also arrested.

The driver of the car is identified as one, Md. Salim (27), S/o (L) Md. Helim of Kairang Mayai Leikai under Porompat Police station in Imphal East district and the 2 occupants identified as one, Md. Azad Khan (29), S/o Md. Allauddin of Sangaiyumpham Mairengkhun Mayai Leikai under Thoubal Police station and Md. Jamir Khan (26), S/o Md. Majid Ali of Sangaiyumpham Part-1 under Thoubal Police station and Thoubal district.

The consignments weighing about 150 grams suspected to be brown sugar and the detained persons were arrested at around 5:50 am by observing formalities. In this regard, an FIR has been registered at Senapati Police station under FIR No. 10(5) 2023, SPT-PS under section 21(b)/60(3) NDPS Act, 1985.

The 3 arrested persons were produced before the Duty Magistrate, Kangpokpi and remanded to Police custody till May 19.
