UKHRUL: The Sinakeithei Village Authority and the Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organisation (TNFO) have expressed their ‘deepest appreciation and heartfelt gratitude’ to the personnel of the 4 Mahar Regiment and the 131 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) for their efforts to save civilians’ lives during recent Kuki militant attacks.
In a press statement, the Sinakeithei Village Authority conveyed its sincere thanks to the 4 Mahar Regiment and the 131 BN BSF for rescuing two innocent civilians—a mother and her son—on March 21, 2026. The pair had been collecting vegetables when they were caught in an open field amid indiscriminate gunfire from Kuki militants. They remained stranded for over four hours, facing a constant threat to their lives, as any attempt to escape would expose them directly to the line of fire.
“In the face of this perilous situation, the brave soldiers of the 4 Mahar Regiment and the 131 BN BSF demonstrated exceptional resolve and operational excellence. With remarkable composure and tactical precision, they undertook a high-risk rescue mission and successfully evacuated the civilians. Their swift and decisive action not only saved innocent lives but also reaffirmed the highest traditions of courage and selfless service upheld by our security forces,” stated the Sinakeithei Village Authority.
The authority further emphasized that such acts of bravery and dedication deserve the highest commendation. The actions of the Regiment and the BSF have provided immense relief to the affected family and have strengthened the community’s faith in the security forces, who serve as protectors during times of crisis.
