Special Freight Train Delivers 50,000 Rice Bags to Manipur

Imphal, May 10: A special North Frontier Railways freight train carrying 42 bogies arrived at Khongsang Railway Station today, bringing around 50,000 bags of rice for Manipur. According to a reliable source, the train via Jiribam reached at 9:55 AM marking the first major rice delivery by rail this month. After unloading at Khongsang, trucks will transport the rice to Imphal.

Meanwhile, over 100 goods-laden vehicles from Jiribam are also moving towards Imphal on National Highway-37, escorted by the 109 CRPF Battalion’s C-company to ensure safe passage through sensitive zones.

It may be mentioned that, Mizoram in the early part of May 2025, became the fourth Northeastern state to link its capital, Aizawl, to the national railway network with the completion of the Bhairabi-Sairang railway line.
