Sunbird Trust stamps Prestige Foundation CSR program in Senapati District

As the country continues to grapple with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Prestige Foundation stepped forward and became the first Non-Government entity to expand the seed of its Corporate Social Responsibility program in the district under the aegis of Sunbird Trust, Bangalore by donating a fully equipped Trax Crusier Ambulance to the State-Run Rogi Kalyn Samiti (RKS), Primary Health Centre, Oinam Hill.

A formal inaugural Program was hosted by Oinam Hill Village Authority to mark the occasion in the presence of Col. Cristopher Rego (Retd) Founder and CEO,Sunbird Trust and his team comprising of his wife Myrna Rego, Dr.Sonal Sethia, Chief Operating Officer  others,Raymond D Souza, President, Maharashtra Christian Association,Dr. Pfokreho Pfoze.Director/CMO, District Health Society, Dr Helen Shimray, District Leprosy Officer, the entire fraternity of Primary Health Centre, representatives from neighbouring villages following strict COVID-19 protocols. Cultural infotainments were also exhibited by students and the Women Society of the village adding spice to the signature event.

Addressing the congregation, Long John Tao, who coordinated the initiative remarked, “The whole district of Senapati is facing a shortfall in emergency services. With COVID-19 paralysing every of life and a government support system a distant dream, the intervention of Sunbird Trust could not have come at a better time. The ambulance is equipped with facilities such as air conditioning, basic life support system, analogue oxygen supply system with a cylinder, auto loading stretcher trolley with floor mounting mechanism, separate doctor’s seat with a medicine cabinet, fire extinguisher etc. The infrastructure will be made available 24/7 for providing immediate medical assistance during an emergency. It will provide relief services to patients who require medical monitoring in transit”.

Speaking on the occasion, Cristopher Rego, the brain behind the facilitation of the much-needed infrastructure said, “The ambulance is a token of friendship and kinship from the Sunbird Trust family in Bangalore. He lauded the dedication of the Primary Health Centre, Oinam. The ambulance will be the hope and aspirations of the villages in and around the Primary Health Centre”.”Dream big and work hard. A beautiful journey awaits you across borders”, he encouraged the young students who join the exchange of love. The philanthropist shared his vision, “Sunbird Trust is committed to sponsoring the service of a nurse for the Primary Health Center. We will also cater to renovating the infrastructures and financing the students of the two schools”.”Our family look forward to partnering with the different stakeholders and collectively working as a team in igniting changes and transforming rural lives”, he said.

Dr.Pfokrelo Pfoze while lauding the initiatives urged the congregation to co-operate with the Government institution and its guidelines, stay informed and make the best use of the infrastructure. The ambulance is for the people. We will do whatever we can to strengthen health infrastructure. I will assert and ensure that the competent authority the employment of a  driver at the earliest”, he assured the gathering.

“Torn apart with psychological shock by the infamous Operation Blue Bird, the Oinam Hill villagers are still limping with its scars. The mission of Sunbird Trust in empowering the village and being our guardian angel is a prayer answered”, an emotional Th . Ngulani, ex-Chairman, Oinam Hill Village Authority exhorted the benefactors on behalf of the villagers.

The red letter event ended with the handing of key cum blessing of ambulance and formal signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Sunbird Trust, and Rogi Kayn Samiti (RKS), Primary Health Centre, Oinam Hill.
