A three-day observation of wildlife week was organised by Environmental Force at Grassroots Level (ENFOGAL), a nonprofit organisation in association with Forest department Ukhrul division from October 7 to 9.
The observation of wildlife week under the theme “Affinity towards Wildlife” was supported by District coordinator Samagra Shiksha (Ed-s) Ukhrul and Project officer DRDA.
Participated by 15 campers, students from different schools, the three-day long wildlife week was flagged off by DFO S Shanngam (IFS) at his office.
ENFOGAL’s major activities of the camping included camera trapping, biodiversity assessment, painting/essay writing/quiz, bird watching and a lecture address by S Shanngam, DFO Ukhrul on conservation of wildlife.
The organisers and participants, according to ENFOGAL, concluded the camping with a pledge on responsibility of wildlife conservation and cleanup drive.
The nonprofit in the past have already conducted four such similar nature camping, under Yoyung Shaiza, president ENFOGAL. It expressed its gratitude to Phungcham village for the support and warm welcome.
ENFOGAL said the aim and objectives of the camp was to:
- To give hands on experience to students about wildlife conservation and its significance.
- To educate and connect students closer to nature with a pragmatic approach.
- Making students conscious about their rights and responsibility towards wildlife and
environment. - To enhance leadership quality.
