Tungjoy Glory Day 2025: A Celebration of Heritage and Gratitude

Ukhrul, January 4: The vibrant and timeless tradition of Tungjoy Glory Day, also known as Veymai Teithe with the motto Avei-Athro, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on January 4 and 5, 2025, by the Veymai people. This cherished annual event is a unique blend of cultural pride, spiritual gratitude, and remembrance of ancestral legacies, symbolizing the unity and strength of the community.

The opening ceremony on January 4 was marked by a grand gathering of villagers and distinguished guests. The event was graced by the presence of:

1. Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati District, as the Chief Guest

2. Anupam, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Senapati District, as the Guest of Honor, and

3. M. Sheveine, MCS SDO/BDO, Mao Maram, Tadubi, and a proud daughter of Veymai, who served as the Chief Host.

The day’s program featured traditional rituals, cultural performances, and ceremonial blessings, all reflecting the deep-rooted customs and values of the Veymai people. These rituals not only showcased the community’s rich heritage but also provided an opportunity to express collective gratitude to God for His bountiful blessings.

The celebration will culminate on January 5 with a spirited folk song competition, a highly anticipated event that highlights the musical talent and cultural vibrancy of the Veymai people.
