UKHRUL: The Tahamzam Youth Forum (TYF) has reiterated its unequivocal support and solidarity with the ultimatum issued by the Naga Village Guard–Northern Command (NVG-NC) regarding the continued detention and alleged concealment of six Naga civilians abducted on May 13, 2026, allegedly by the KNF-P.
In a strongly worded statement, the TYF stated that the Naga people have displayed “extraordinary patience, restraint, maturity, and humanity” despite enduring emotional trauma, repeated provocations, contradictory narratives, and what it described as deliberate attempts to distort the truth surrounding the incident.
According to the forum, eighteen innocent Naga civilians traveling alongside their wives, children, and family members including two individuals from Sapermeing were abducted during the incident. Through humanitarian understanding and exchange efforts, fourteen were eventually released. However, six civilians still remain unaccounted for.
The organization accused sections of Kuki community of promoting selective narratives while simultaneously issuing appeals for peace, humanity, Christian brotherhood, and reconciliation. “Where were these moral voices when innocent Naga civilians were intimidated and abducted, and families were left in anguish?” the statement questioned, adding that repeated appeals by the Naga people seeking clarity regarding the whereabouts and safety of the missing civilians were allegedly met with silence and evasion.
TYF further asserted that the Naga people have consistently upheld peace and restraint despite repeated hostility and emotional suffering, respecting the wisdom and appeals of Naga civil society organizations and community leaders in the larger interest of stability and communal harmony.

The forum also highlighted that the Naga people had already demonstrated genuine humanity through action rather than rhetoric. It stated that Naga civil society organizations, youth bodies, and volunteers ensured the safety of students, civilians, workers, patients, and travelers without discrimination, even during one of the most volatile situations in the region.
According to TYF, humanitarian considerations were extended beyond communal lines, reflecting the Naga people’s commitment to valuing human life above identity politics and propaganda.
At the same time, the organization warned that continued attempts to manipulate narratives, engage in selective moral posturing, and emotionally influence the Naga public could no longer be tolerated. The statement maintained that Naga youths today are “fully conscious, vigilant, and no longer willing to remain passive spectators to repeated humiliation, deception, and calculated psychological warfare.”
The TYF further stated that the stand taken by the Naga Village Guard–Northern Command, including its reported decision to transfer detainees to the Naga Village Guard–Western Command (NVG-WC) in Tamenglong if the six hostages are not released, was justified under the prevailing circumstances and reflected the growing sentiments among the Naga public.
The organization stressed that all groups and leaders claiming to represent the Naga people must stand firmly for “truth, justice, dignity, and the collective will of the people” during what it termed a decisive moment. “History will remember who stood with the people and who chose silence, compromise, or convenience when the Naga people needed clarity, courage, and conviction the most,” the statement said, adding that the future and collective interests of the Naga people should never be compromised through weak leadership, selective silence, or decisions detached from realities on the ground.
TYF also cautioned against what it called selective neutrality and superficial moral appeals while six innocent Naga civilians still remain missing. It stated that the pain, anger, dignity, and sentiments of the Naga people could not continue to be ignored in the name of convenience or diplomacy.

The organization additionally raised concerns over fresh incidents of alleged violence involving Kuki militants. According to the statement, armed attacks were reportedly carried out against innocent Naga farmers at Pongringlong (Charoi Pandongba) near Tupul in Noney district around 2:20 p.m. on May 22, 2026. It further alleged that militants from nearby Mongkot Chephu village opened indiscriminate fire targeting a villager from Sharkapung. Describing these incidents as repeated provocations, TYF said such actions exposed a dangerous contradiction between public appeals for peace and the realities unfolding on the ground.
Concluding the statement, the forum declared that the younger generation of Nagas remains “alert, united, and conscious” of every development affecting their people, land, and future. It warned that the silence and restraint shown by the Naga people should never again be mistaken for weakness or disunity.
“We have tolerated enough. The time has come for the Naga youths to stand shoulder to shoulder and demonstrate to the world the true spirit, resilience, courage, dignity, and collective strength of the Naga people,” the statement added.
