Lightning Kills Two Siblings in North Tripura, Several Children Also Injured

AGARTALA: Lightning claimed two lives at the Nabincherra village under Pencharthal Block in North Tripura on Saturday. A brother and sister, Sumanta Chakma (30) and Mina Chakma (27), died after a lightning strike hit the electric board of their home during bad weather, and several children were also injured in the incident.

According to local sources, the two siblings were at home on Saturday afternoon when the weather turned severe. Lightning suddenly struck the electric board of their house, critically injuring both of them. Family members and local residents rushed to the spot and took them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared both dead.

Several children who were also present at the scene sustained injuries in the incident. They were given primary treatment, according to reports.

The sudden loss of two young members of the same family has left the Nabincherra area in deep shock and mourning. Residents described the incident as devastating, and grief has spread through the locality since the news broke.

However, the administration has noted the tragedy and begun an investigation.
