Ukhrul, February 27, (DIO): A “One Day Awareness Programme on PM Vishwakarma Scheme” was organized by MSME-DFO, Imphal, GOO, MoMSME in association with District Industries Centre, Ukhrul at DRDA Hall, Mini-Secretariat, Hamleikhong today.

Gracing the programme as the Chief-Guest, Asish Das (IAS), the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul stated that even though the local people are gifted with unique craftsmanship, it is not known by others beyond their locality due to lack of promotion and advertisement. He, therefore, urged the local artisans and craftsmen to upgrade the already gifted skills and promote their product in bigger markets with the help of the scheme provided by our honourable Prime Minister.

On a welcome note addressed by Themreiyo T Awungshi, General Manager of District Industries & Commerce Centres (DIC)- Ukhrul, he stated that the primary objective of the programme is to create awareness and enhance registration under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and also to provide an opportunity to clarify doubts on the scheme. The scheme is introduced to uplift the economic status of each individual and thereby improving the economy of the country, he added.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner handed over certificates of completion to 82 Trainees for successfully completing the training.

The programme was attended by Ngamreiwung Luithui, SDO LM Block; WS Raimeson, DIO and District Skill Nodal Officer, DID; Kashing Shingnaisui, YP, MSME- DFO, Imphal; along with 112 attendees including the Gram panchayats (Village Chiefs), representative SLBC, BDOs, Forest department, Handloom and Textiles, CSCs, training Partners and artisans from related trades. Representatives from SLBC, NSDC and CSC were also present to address the issues faced by the applicants and GPs.
