For the first time, a brand-new Korean restaurant was inaugurated in downtown Ukhrul ahead of Christmas here on Wednesday.

Located at Phungreitang main bazar, the new restaurant SHIM Korean Restaurant was formally launched by Union Baptist Church’s (UBC) evangelist Thomson Kengshee in the presence of the two young owners Themshang Mayirnao and Vashim.

Wishing the duo a success in their new venture, Thomson exhorted that persevering men never fail, but reap the fruits of their endeavors in the end. “This prospect is fulfilled, when a person serves the people in the way God wants him/her to and in line with God’s directions,” he said.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the launch event, Themshang Mayirnao and Vashim said that they decided to embark on the cuisine business of their own after working in the hospitality areas elsewhere for more than 15 years.

“We consider this the right moment to open our new restaurant because we want to provide the best of our cuisine services to our people as a Christmas gift,” they said.

Stating the restaurant is the first of its kind in Ukhrul town, fully dedicated to Korean cuisine, they said, “In fact, it is a manifestation of our love and passion for Korean food and desire to share the best of Korean cuisine with others.”

The newly launched restaurant will be offering its services to the public from 17 December onwards.
