On the other hand, the Mullam village authority has reported an armed attack by what they describe as ‘Tangkhul militants’ in the village. The village authority stated that they came under an extensive armed attack in the early hours of April 24, allegedly carried out by Tangkhul militants.

Around 1:00 AM, a blank shot was heard near the village, but given the recent pattern of unrest, no alarm was raised immediately. However, at approximately 5:30 AM, the village experienced what appeared to be an unprovoked and premeditated assault involving heavy and indiscriminate gunfire, along with the burning of homes, leaving several people injured, the village authority reported.
The village authority also stated that, at the time of their statement, two severely injured individuals had been rescued, while additional unconfirmed injuries and an unverified fatality were reported.
“This act of violence represents a disturbing escalation. While previous incidents have contributed to rising tensions, the direct attack on a civilian village marks a grave and unacceptable development,” the authority stated.
The village authority further highlighted a series of recent incidents, noting that on April 19, 2026, armed militants entered Mulam village land in broad daylight and fired blank shots at farmers, causing widespread panic. When village youths attempted to approach the militants for clarification later that day, they were met with gunfire, though fortunately, no casualties occurred.

Additionally, on April 21, 2026, another incident of gunfire targeted farmers, further contributing to fear and insecurity within the community.
“These repeated acts have created an atmosphere of sustained intimidation, involving harassment and disruption of daily life. Despite this, the Mulam community exercised restraint, hoping for a peaceful resolution,” the authority declared.
In response to the escalating situation, the Mullam village authority reported issuing an urgent warning to nearby areas, including Toungou and Sirarikhong, urging intervention and de-escalation. However, these appeals appear to have gone unheeded. The authority has called on the government to take immediate action to protect innocent civilians.
