Ukhrul: Several videos and photos allegedly showing four slain members of the Kuki National Army (Burma), killed by the NSCN on Tuesday. They claim it was a retaliatory operation for the killing of Naga Army Captain R.S. Winson on June 15, about 20 km from Kettha Town along the Chindwin River in Burma.

Ukhrul Times, in coordination with local sources in Kamjong and Ukhrul Districts of Manipur boarding the porous Indo-Myanmar border, could not confirm any such claims reported.

However, it may be pointed out that a local news report from a Myanmar-based news outlet stated that four KNA-Burma members were neutralized by Myanmar security forces in an operation in Tamu Township on May 21, 2024.

The English translation of the Myanmar based news report by Nay Moe on May 22, 2024, written in Burmese language is made available below.

“In the northern part of Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, a security force clearing the area in Kyunpintha village reportedly neutralized four members of the Kuki National Army (KNA-Burma) yesterday morning, May 21.

The security force neutralized KNA-Burma members named Mang Kyaw, Dannyriel, Haw Chin Pon, and Lan Min Than, who were holding important positions within the KNA-Burma. The operation was based on information from responsible locals, indicating that PDFs (People’s Defense Forces) were planning to patrol Kyunpintha village. As the security force lay in ambush, four armed KNA-Burma members arrived, leading to their immediate neutralization.

Additionally, around 9:30 a.m. on May 21, near Kyunpintha village in Tamu Township, the security forces’ operation resulted in the capture of four Kuki PDFs, one M-22 rifle, two magazines, fifty-four rounds of ammunition, one drone, and seven drone batteries.”
