5-member Trinamool Congress fact finding delegation in Manipur; leaves for Churachandpur District

Imphal: A five-member fact finding delegation of All India Trinamool Congress landed in Imphal today on a two-day Manipur visit to take stock of the prevailing crisis facing the state.

The delegation comprises of Rajya Sabha MP and Parliamentary Party leader Derek O’Brien, MP and chief whip, Lok Sabha Kalyan Banerjee, MP and deputy leader, Lok Sabha Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen and Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev.

Trinamool Congress Manipur members accorded a warm welcome to the visiting delegation upon their arrival at the Bir Tikendrajjit International Airport, Imphal. The Trinamol Congress (TMC) team then took a chopper from the airport to Churachandpur to meet with people in the district. Later in the afternoon, the team is meeting with displaced people at relief camps in Imphal and Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey.

Addressing media at the airport, Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev said the TMC team had come to Manipur under the initiative of Trinamool Congress Supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee to help restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Further, MP Sushmita Dev said the party will stand with the people of Manipur in the parliament. She said the party wants peace in Manipur and for the people of the state to co-exist harmoniously.

While, Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen said they are in Manipur to hear the grievances of the common people and the same will be communicated to the party supremo Mamta Banerjee to take further actions, she said.
