Assam Rifles DIG Meets UNC, Nemcha Kipgen to Review Security in Manipur

UKHRUL: The Assam Rifles held a series of key interactions in Manipur over two days, engaging both civil society leaders and the state government amid the prevailing security situation in the region.

On April 28, Assam Rifles officials met a delegation of the United Naga Council (UNC), led by its president NG Lorho, at the Jawalamukhi Garrison in Liarouching, Senapati district. The discussions centred on ongoing tensions, with both sides exchanging views on peace, stability and the well-being of local communities. The force reiterated its commitment to ensuring security for all communities and fostering an environment conducive to dialogue and harmony.

The following day, on April 29, the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles, Jawalamukhi, called on Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen in Kangpokpi district. The meeting focused on the prevailing security scenario and measures to maintain normalcy while addressing public concerns. Both sides discussed steps to promote stability, development and the welfare of local communities.

Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the region, while supporting initiatives aimed at long-term stability.
