ATSUM Aug 24th Consultative Meeting in Imphal shifted to Undisclosed Hill Location

The proposed consultative meeting called by the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) on Tuesday at Adimjati Amity Hall, Chingmeirong, Imphal at 1 pm was halted and could not take place.

State police force, according to a news report from The Hills Journal said, the police foiled the proposed ATSUM’s consultative meeting.

The report also said police forces have been surrounding ATSUM leaders’ residence since early Tuesday morning. Some have been engaged in frisking and search operations of ATSUM federate leaders who’ll be coming from the hill districts to attend the said meeting.

It added that, police commando have also frisked vehicles coming from Saikul towards Imphal in bid for a look out on Kuki Students’ Organisation leaders. The proposed meeting will be carried out in an undisclosed location in the hill districts of Manipur.

ATSUM had convened a tribal consultative meeting on Monday in regard to the state government’s refusal to table Manipur (Hill Areas) ADC bill, 2021 in the ongoing state assembly session.
