Birds die after eating poisoned food

Imphal: Many birds have died due to eating of poison seed in large number at Kabokwakching Balaram Village of Bishnupur District on Tuesday.

Local villagers found many dove and sparrow lying dead in the paddy field at Kabowakching roadside area.

Leihaotabam Haridas Sharma of Balaramkhul village interacting with this reporter lamented that some farmers in the area have been using restricted insecticide nematicide called Furadan 3G allegedly causing the dead of birds in large numbers.

Urging the authority to look into the matter, especially use of Furadan 3G, the local farmer further said that such farming method will bring greater crisis in the state in the long run.
