COVID-19 fatality rises to 32 as three die in 24 hours: Manipur

IMPHAL: With the deaths of three more patients, the COVID-19 related death toll in Manipur rose to 32 on Thursday.

Three men – one 32-year-old from Bishnupur, 61-year-old from Thoubal district and 63-year-old from Imphal East district – expired at Shija Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS respectively from COVID-19 and other co-morbid conditions in the last 24 hours, a report of the state Health department said.

Now, the cumulative number of deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic rose to 32, the report added.

Meanwhile, 102 fresh cases were detected in the last 24 hours (till 5 pm of September 3) took the COVID-19 positive tally of the state to 6,609.

Twenty-seven of the new cases are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) while the rest 75 persons are from the general population. All the confirmed cases among the general population have no significant travel history.

Of the 6,609 total confirmed cases, 4,980 are from the general population and 1,629 are security personnel.

Meanwhile, with 167 infected persons recovered in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate in the state stands now at 72.23 per cent.

As many as 4,774 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease and 1,803 cases are active cases.
