UKHRUL: A drone attack targeting civilians is reported at Khammoi village in Myanmar, near the Indo-Myanmar border. The incident reportedly took place around 2:55 AM on April 6, 2026. The attack struck a civilian home, although there were no casualties. The villagers have called for the International Human Rights Council (IHRC)‘s intervention following the attack.

Villagers reported that the attack was the second such incident, with the first attack being on 20th October, 2025. In response to the latest incident, a public mass rally was held to condemn the attack. Protesters carried banners that read, “We Want Peace,” “We Condemn External Aggression,” and “Restore Human Rights,” among others.

During the rally, the villagers stated that it was shameful that such an incident occurred in the public domain, while condemning those responsible. They also condemned external aggression, if the perpetrators are from India, as they are inside Myanmar.

Further, the villagers expressed their frustration over the severe underdevelopment in the Eastern Nagas region, citing a lack of proper communication, roads, electricity, education, and medical facilities. They stated that the region, including their village, lies in the most neglected and remote area.

The villagers demanded electricity instead of drones, peace instead of violence, and respect for human rights. Additionally, the villagers requested the intervention of the Internal Human Rights Commission (IHRC) following this incident.

On the other hand, sources informed Ukhrul Times that “inter-faction rivalry intensifies between NSCN-KYA and NSCN-R (Angmei), resulting in an attack by the Angmei group late at night on 6th April, 2026, at around 0300 at the suspected member of the NSCN-KYA group inside the Khammoi village in Burma across Lungwa village(INDIA). So far, no reports of casualties or injuries have been received.” Ukhrul Times could not independently verify this claim.

Karishma Hasnat a journalist who reports on the region took to X and said, “Another “drone strike,” allegedly conducted by Indian security forces in Khammoi village along the Indo–Myanmar border – near Longwa village in eastern Nagaland and about 9km from the border with Arunachal Pradesh. The attack around 2:55am (6 Apr) damaged a house sheltering an elderly person and a child. No casualties reported.”

Another source told Ukhrul Times that the attack was carried out by the Indian Security Forces on suspicion of the presence of NSCN-K/YA cadres in the village. The source also denies any factional clash between the NSCN-K/YA and NSCN-K/AM.
