Chandel, April 10: Following the order and the notification of the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel calling for vaccination of all pets in view of reported rise in rabies cases in some neighbouring districts, the District Veterinary Office, Chandel on Wednesday organised a free antirabies vaccination camp at Indoor Stadium in the district headquarters.
During the event, over 100 dogs, mainly from the district headquarters area were given free vaccination.
Veterinary Officer Dr. RD. Samery said it was important that antirabies vaccination were given to dogs to prevent any rabies cases in the district. She informed that over 100 dogs were vaccinated during the event.
We plan to continue with the vaccination programme and even reach out to far flung areas, she said. The doctor called on all those in the headquarters area to avail the facility and get their pets vaccinated.

On Monday, in view of reports of rising rabies cases in certain neighbouring districts which has also led to dead of at least 3 individuals, the Deputy Commissioner of Chandel, L. Nandakumar Singh, has called for the vaccination of all pets, dogs and cats, against rabies.
In the notification for vaccination of dogs and cats at free of costs, the DC has referred Veterinary Officers namely Dr. RD. Samery (8131819210) and Dr. Sureshkumar Ch (7005641564) to take the lead.
Notifications
