Ukhrul, Feb 22: The Global Naga Forum has responded to WC-NNPGs’ allegation that the GNF is a mouthpiece of the NSCN-IM, accusing the prominent global Naga body of “fuelling division” among the Nagas.
GNF on Saturday said it “categorically rejects the baseless allegation and false accusation. GNF said it wants WC-NNPG and fellow Nagas to know that it take two things to heart about the Nagas: “One People, One Destiny,” which is our motto, and advocating for Nagas the human right of political self-determination in our homeland.”

The GNF responding to the “W/C/NNPG’S Take on 21 Opposition MP’s Letter on Naga Issue” (Feb 19, 2025), said that the WC-NNPGs made a random and baseless allegation against the Global Naga Forum, calling them a “propped-up mouthpieces of IM,” and pigeonholed the GNF as IM’s “appendage,” accusing them of “fuelling division” among the Nagas.

The GNF said, “We don’t believe Nagas need other people’s permission to live and govern ourselves in our
own lands. Nor do Nagas need the unending imposition of the repressive military law (AFSPA) intruding into our day-to-day lives which permits the armed forces to kill us with predictable regularity, always “by mistaken identity,” without the fear of criminal prosecution. Nor do
Nagas need Indian “security forces” curbing our freedom of movement in our homeland. And we detest being fenced in and out of India in our own ancestral homeland in the name of India’s “national security.””

The prominent global Naga body further clarified that it is “dedicated to the defence of human rights, some of whose members
have contributed to the international discourse of human rights while others have devoted their lives to active advocacy for justice and human rights at home, in India, and other countries, the Global Naga Forum would be remiss if it did not stand up for our own human right not to be falsely and publicly accused of being something or someone we are not. We hope WC-NNPG will henceforth respect our right to truthful representation as fellow Nagas.”
