The Pheinai tour derived its name from Yungyung’s first song ‘Pheinai’ released in 2018.

Supporting Yungyung, the music tour will feature three other popular artists Kakami, Leander Kamsom and Chan Callie, a Bangalore based Tangkhul singer.

Yungyung, Kakami and Leander Kamsom, the trio have always supported each other in their individual projects and have even produced a Tangkhul video music together Phakahmei, and the ultra popular Mapha Luilu.

Putting in context the scenario of the music industry in Manipur, including the whole Tangkhul community, this tour sets the par and is indeed a huge leap forward for the nascent music industry. It is a bigger deal even for the artists themselves as they will be performing in a much larger platform outside their home turf, spreading out to wider audiences in different metropolitan cities to a whole new crowd.

It’s an impressive feat considering that the whole tour is not funded by any sponsors as the necessary funding for the tour is generated by sale of ticket alone.

Speaking to the Yungyung’s manager, Rock Paul Lungleng, he told this reporter, “The whole tour is purely self-funded through the money coming from ticket sales without any kind of sponsorship and we’re managing the tour in a very humble manner. But I am grateful for the immense response from all his friends and fans all over the country for such incredible support. It has been a dream come true for him too and I’am certain that this music tour will be a big boost for his musical career as an artist.”

Rock, a politician as well as an activist at heart, commented that Yungyung’s biggest advantage is that he now has around 10-15 original songs of his own which are all fan’s favorites making it a relatively comfortable and fun music tour for him, accompanied by start studded artists he is touring with this season.
