During the sit-in protest, participants displayed placards with messages such as “Aid is a right, not a favor,” “No segregation of camp and non-camp for relief assistance,” “Give equal treatment to all IDPs,” and “Hear our cry, don’t let us die.” The program began at 11:30 AM and concluded at 2:00 PM.
Dr. R. Sanga and Dr. Vumkhoneh Haokip emphasized that the protest focused on the survival of all IDPs, equitable compensation, and disparities in rehabilitation. They pointed out that individuals in the valley received compensation, while many in the hills did not benefit from similar assistance.

The leaders also noted that there are approximately 33,000 IDPs in Churachandpur District following the conflict in Manipur on May 3. About 18,000 non-camp residents and 15,000 residents from relief camps have been segregated, with only a few from the relief camps receiving assistance. To address these issues, they submitted a memorandum titled “For Kind Redress and Action Please” to the Home Minister of India, which was delivered through the District Commissioner of Churachandpur, Mr. Darun Kumar. This four-page memorandum outlines their concerns and requests for support.
