Kangpokpi: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills expressed its displeasure with the actions of the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) during a peaceful rally organized on August 31, 2024, in Kangpokpi district. Despite prior communication with the SDSA about the rally, the SDSA issued a late-night press release, requesting the KSO not to hold the rally in areas within SDSA jurisdiction. KSO Sadar Hills said that it maintained peace despite the provocation, clarifying that its commitment to coexistence and expressing concern over SDSA’s perceived bias towards N. Biren Singh’s policies during the ongoing Kuki-Meitei conflict.

The KSO Sadar Hills expresses its displeasure at the conduct of SDSA leaders at Tumnoupokpi Village, Kangpokpi district during the peaceful public rally organized today. For want of peaceful co-existence and camaraderie, the KSO Sadar Hills had on 30th August 2024 apprised the SDSA of its plans for a peaceful public rally on 31st August 2024 wherein the SDSA had also acknowledged the co-operative nature of the KSO leadership.

However, to our surprise, the SDSA came up with a late night Press Release yesterday asking the KSO Sadar Hills not to organize any rally in areas within SDSA jurisdiction. It is surprising that the SDSA operating in Senapati district would claim jurisdiction in Kangpokpi district, but nevertheless, to show due regard to its co-existing community members, KSO Sadar Hills ensured that no sloganeering was done in the few Naga villages passed during the rally.

In spite of all brotherly attitude that KSO-SH had showered upon the SDSA leadership, it was very unfortunate that SDSA leaders had physically blocked the National highway at Tumnoupokpi Village today, preventing the march of the peaceful public rally. Despite the many emotional venting of frustration by the rally participants, KSO-SH ensured that no violence erupted and the rally continued peacefully.

While we have always been trying to acknowledge the self-claimed Neutrality of the SDSA during this Kuki-Meitei conflict, we fail to understand how their neutrality always appears to appease N. Biren Singh and always appears to favour the policies of N. Biren Singh. We hope we are wrong in this regard as we look forward to further peaceful co-existence with our Naga neighbours. As we worship a common God, it is our hope and prayer for peace to prevail and for greater understanding from our Naga brothers as we face the brutalities of N. Biren Singh continually.

God bless SDSA.
