Manipur BJP chief: Draupati Murmu’s election as President a new ray of hope

Imphal: Election of a tribal woman (Draupati Murmu) as president of India was a clear example of BJP’s stand for the weaker section of the society, according to BJP Manipur Pradesh president, A Sarda Devi.

Addressing a news conference in connection with the celebration of election of Draupati Murmu as the 15th President of the country, the state BJP chief said that by nominating and electing Draupati Murmu for the highest Constitutional post, the BJP and its NDA partners had taken a giant decision.

“We are proud of it,” she said, and lauded prime minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda for the ‘bold decision’.

“The election of Draupati Murmu as the president of India has given a new ray of hope to the women across the country and it also showed that BJP always stands for the weaker section of the society”, she added.

“It is a firm belief of the BJP that to make a new India, there are responsibilities of all sections of the society,” Sarda further added.

Sarda Devi claimed that the state BJP office and the Manipur chief minister also received congratulation letters from various sections of the society in the state.

The BJP is celebrating the election of Draupati Murmu as the next President of India for four days (July 21 to 24) and the state unit of the party is also organizing various programmes to celebrate the same.
