Imphal: A team of Manipur State Commission for Women, MSCW, on Saturday conducted a spot enquiry on the incident of the naked parading of two women belonging to the Kuki-Zo community.
During the spot inquiry, the MSCW team interacted with personnel of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station and locals.

Briefing media, MSCW chairperson Salam Ulka said the Commission registered a suo-moto case of the May 4 incident on July 20 and directed Manipur DGP on the same day to submit a status report on the case within July 28.
Copies of the letter submitted to Manipur DGP were forwarded to the chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Additional Chief Secretary and Director of Social Welfare Department, she added.

Condemning the incident as shameful, the MSCW chairperson said MSCW will strive its best in delivering justice to the victims and ensure that befitting punishment is given to all the culprits involved in the crime. She also urged the government to take necessary actions to book all the perpetrators at the earliest.
The horrific incident took place on May 4 at a location in Kangpokpi District under the jurisdiction of Nongpok Sekmai Police Station. An FIR was filed against the incident at Saikul Police Station on May 18 and it was transferred to Nongpok Sekmai Police Station on June 20. 5 culprits have been arrested by Manipur police so far.
