Senapati, October 11: Over a thousand students from across 17 schools and institutions took part in a one-day Career Guidance Workshop held on Saturday at the Asufii Christian Institute Auditorium, Punanamei.
The event was jointly organised by the Mao Council, Mao Officers’ Union, Mao Naga Women Welfare Association (MNWWA), and the Mao Students’ Union (MSU). Kaini Lokho, Assistant Professor at Asufii Christian Institute, moderated the programme, which aimed to help young students explore various career options and build a sense of direction for their future. The workshop began with an invocation prayer by Pastor Loli Chakre, followed by an introduction and welcome note by the moderator Athikho Joseph, President of the Mao Council, pronounced a traditional blessing to formally open the programme.

Delivering the first session on “Career in Law,” Koshia Mao, Public Prosecutor and Government Advocate, Government of Manipur, urged students to take their studies seriously from the higher secondary level. She explained the different branches of law, criminal, civil, and family, and elaborated on the roles of judges, public prosecutors, and advocates. She encouraged students to “do their best and trust in God for the rest.”
In his address on Civil Services, A. Adahrii Maheo (MCS), CEO of ADC Senapati, spoke about the importance of building a strong foundation, staying curious, maintaining good health, and surrounding oneself with positive influences. He emphasised that consistency and discipline are the keys to success in competitive examinations.
Speaking on Medical Careers, Kajikho, MS Surgery and SMO (Medical), said aspiring doctors should approach the field with compassion, patience, and dedication. He reminded students that medical professionals must possess strong reading habits and a good memory.

After a short musical performance and refreshments, Lt. Col. Maneo Francis, Shaurya Chakra awardee, delivered an inspiring talk on Careers in the Armed Forces. He encouraged students to embrace challenges and opportunities in serving the nation, reminding them that marks or percentages do not define a person’s worth. “Set clear and achievable goals, and believe in yourself,” he told the students.
A panel discussion followed on SSC, Engineering, Banking, and other career paths, featuring Elow Eshena, Senior Geologist, Imphal, and Moses Basena, Manager, Punjab National Bank, Imphal. Both resource persons shared valuable insights from their fields, offering practical advice and motivating students to explore diverse professional opportunities.
Delivering a word of encouragement, Adani Loli, Retired Joint Registrar of the High Court, applauded the organisers for their efforts and urged students to make the best use of the platform. The programme concluded with closing remarks by Lohrii Nenuo Joseph (MFS), FA, ADC Senapati, followed by a benediction prayer by Matia, Finance and Treasurer of MNWWA.
